A wearable pair of boots inspired by Rene Magritte's painting "The Red Model" (1935). After making a mold of my foot and scanning the mold with a 3D scanner, the file was brought into Geomagic, and edited to create another mold which was then filled with dragon skin and dye. The cast was then sewn onto a pair of boots.
A ceremonial costume that pays homage to the crucial milestone that is the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This act prevents the racial discrimination that many African Americans, primarily in the South were faced with at that time when they went to vote. A quilting technique was applied to demonstrate the strength and unity that was necessary to accomplish this, and the patriotic flag and stance show the pride and honor of this event.
Looking to my military past for inspiration, real military medals were cast and molded out of plastic, and the ribbons were used to form the band. A custom shadow box was built and lined with black velvet.
Using modern, geometric furniture as inspiration, white oak and mahogany wood pieces were developed then hand & machine carved.
Life is all about perspective. This space serves as a reminder that how we choose to view situations dictates how we respond to them. The viewer experiences three views; walking towards house, entering and sitting on couch, and exiting house.
Using a mannequin and strips of LED's, Houdini was bolted to a chair and hung upside down. A LED floodlight was placed inside his head which was drilled in the eyes, hairline, and ears to allow for light to shine out.
A copper plated distillery guitar. Using copper sheets, the entire guitar was wrapped and then texturized.
